update: finally zero cells. off steroids.

Post by vancouver »

I'm wondering why there was no step ladder approach. Hourly for 30 days seems excessive
For 1+ cells. I would have dropped the dose after week. He said he wanted to hit it hard and
Would have hit it hard even if cell count was zero. I had this 4 yrs ago and did not see doc and it cleared up on its own. He was clueless about 850 drop rule of thumb. The fact that I still had a few
Cells after all that steroid might suggest I needed the high dose??
I mentioned celebrex. He said see family doc.

Summary
Feb2 Doc took me off steroids and next appt is 9 months.zero cells.

Sept3 saw doc first time after 17 days of severe iritis. Could not see at all.
The cell count was only 1+ because I improved dramatically just before going to doc
Was put on steroid(pred forte 10%) hourly for month. Ointment at night.

Oct tapered off steroid and went 5 days with no steroids. Then, 1 drop pred forte
Per day Until feb2.
Dec1 still some cells.

Is this a uveitis specialist? My doc did say when you first get iritis it is like a fire and you have to put it out. I've had no cells since Dec. 28 th ...at least i hope i still have zero cells. But, still weaning off the oral steroids. Mine was bilateral posterior so nothing to mess with :( i got off the durezol with no problem so far.

They say the tapering off is important so I am following exactly what the specialist says. Probably at least 3 more weeks on oral prednisone. Then we pray things stay quiet.

Today was the first day in 3 months i attempted my contact lenses. It's been a real journey. Felt good to get out of glasses for just a few hours.

Congrats on no cells and getting off steroids. Does 9 months seem like a long time to go without a recheck? I suppose every doc is different.
